ROOTS: KING ARCHIBONG DUKE III OF OLD CALABAR

Gosh! his face though! Lol! Both my body and my mind will agree not to come near this dude...

Anyways, this is King Archibong Duke III of Old Calabar. He is the first king to be crowned with a regalia sent from the Queen of England!. cool eh? imagine how he he woulda felt then...super fly!

Now look closely at the picture...Okay... quit looking at his face.. we all know its not friendly... look at his head and you will notice that there are two crowns on there. I didnt notice this until my cousin pointed it out to me. But Seriously! Why would a king decide to wear TWO crowns?!!! one ontop of the other... hahahaha!!! you blacks are just too funny :| *insert straight face here*

The next picture i'm going to post is going to give you a hint. And you will be amazed at what rumours i've heard concerning this.

Okay..Here it goes.

When i saw this picture, i felt really sorry for the girl standing at his right (no your other right :p) she looks.... sad, tired, miserable.... imagine what she must have been going through as a woman in those days.

okay okay okay, back to the crown.

But seriously! this guy is FIERCE!!!

Lol! the gist i heard was that the queen sent him two crowns yeah?, The other crown was supposed to be for his wife! but nooooooo!! as a proper african man that he is, he decided to where both crowns on his head. and his poor wife (assumed to be the lady standing) *sigh* you know the rest.
I laughed hard when i heard this one!..lol! it still has me laughing!. This is COMPLETELY REDUNCULOUS!!!!

The second gist i heard was errrr...not so funny tho... but it was that the people of Duke Town in Calabar Crowned him first then the Queen of England crowned him a second time. And so, our wonderful king decided to wear both crowns for this picture..

Please if you have any useful information concerning this lemmie know ;)

  1. Dear Ms Monroe

The King in the picture is not King Edem Archibong III, but his successor, King Duke Ephraim Eyamba IX.

    Kind regards

  2. Ms Munroe,

Do you have a monarch in your country? How would you feel if any random person posts a blog article to ridicule him (or her) and with grossly inaccurate information?
Education and civilisation comes with respecting the identity, culture and laws of others, especially in affairs that concern them exclusively. Cultural tolerance has been taught at primary school level in Old Calabar for at least a century! I cannot recall the people of Old Calabar or Duke Town ever complaining about their King at that time, at least not to you! You also made racist comments throughout your write-up, which is rather unethical and indecent.
You may wish to take some writing lessons and learn the rudiments of basic research before putting up your next post in public space, considering that a good percentage of your readers are well read.

    Regards.

    BOB
